Cabriel occupies the earliest known grave on the island. He was the steward of the brig Frances Allen of New London and drowned.
Cabriel Rock on the north side of Ocean Harbour was named after him by the South Georgia Surveys in the 1950s.
In his 1931 book South Georgia The British Empire’s Subantarctic Outpost, L Harrison Matthews describes a grave at New Fortune Bay, “marked by a wooden cross on which is carved the inscription:
