Major Barratt Hamilton was a biologist, researching whale biology at Leith, when he died of a heart attack. His body was repatriated to Ireland, via England, on the Orwell. <\/em>This memorial was placed in the Grytviken church in 2005 to replace an earlier marble plaque that has gone missing from the cemetery at Leith.
