The Register of Deaths tells us that he committed suicide. Might this be linked to the location of the grave – right in the corner of the cemetery, out of chronological order of burials? At this time other burials were taking place in row ‘C’, where there would have been room. In some places there is a tradition of not burying suicides in consecrated graveyards and this grave might even have been originally outside the cemetery fenceline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
