The magistrate's records at SPRI tell us he was an AB (able bodied seaman) and died of misadventure. He fell overboard while grappling buoy rope on the whale catcher 'Busen 6'. At the time the vessel was 105 miles at 74 degrees from Cape Saunders.
There is a photograph in Tom Schandy's book 'Syg Georgia - kongenes øy ISBN 8292069100' of 2001 showing relatives visiting Oddmund's grave in 1999. We are told he drowned.
