In his book 'Antarctica', Otto Nordenskjöld tells how, in May 1902, he found the cemetery where a few pieces of wood thrust into the earth marked the graves. On one was the inscription:
JOSEP H. MONTARO. BRAVO C. D. VERA
A.B. SCH. S.W. HUNT.
DIED FEB 28th 1891 AGE 19 YEARS.
R.I.P.
In his book 'Sea Elephant', L Harrison-Matthews repeats most of this with the addition of the fact that the schooner A W Hunt was a sealer.
Josep (or Joseph?) is most likely buried in grave B6, B8, or B10 with the other early sealers' graves, B7 and B9, which are still marked.
Headland (1986) puts him in grave B6. The 1947 blueprint does not.
