A photo of a funeral on 31 November 1930 shows this grave in place, and the next one along is known to be dated 15 April 1928, so grave C2 was very likely dated between these two. There are three entries in the Register of Deaths during this period where the grave is unknown, so it is possibly one of these three:
- HILLESTAD,Reidar, who died at Leith but does not appear to buried there
The photograph below, showing the burial, confirms the date range as being between 24 Feb 1928, when Shackleton's headstone was unveiled, and 7 October 1929, the date of grave A2 (which is not in the picture).
